Laptop totally dead?

Run through these quick checks before you panic.

Check the power

Make sure the charger is plugged into a working wall outlet and look for a charging light.

Swap the charger

Try a different outlet and a different charger if you have one to rule out a dead cable.

Hard reset

Unplug everything, hold the power button down for 30 seconds, then plug the charger back in and try.

Look and listen

If you hear fans or see lights but the screen stays black, it is on and the screen is the problem.

Unplug extras

Pull out USB drives, hubs, and anything plugged in, then press the power button again.

Heads up

If it got hit by a power surge or a summer storm, or you smell or see anything burning, stop and unplug it right away. Do not open the laptop up yourself.

Still dead after all that? Bring it by the Kendall shop and I will check the power and the board.
