Method

Our process

01

$40 Diagnostic

Drop it off or schedule a pickup. We isolate whether it's the display, GPU, RAM, cabling, or software. The $40 diagnostic is credited toward the repair if you proceed.

02

External-Screen Test

We test on a known-good external monitor to separate a panel problem from the rest of the machine — so you only pay to fix what's actually broken.

03

Targeted Fix

Reseat or replace RAM, GPU, or display cabling; clear a bad driver or boot state; or restore backlight power. If a drive is involved, we recover your data first.

04

Tested & Returned

We confirm a stable picture through a full boot and stress cycle, then return it backed by a 90-day labor warranty.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

My computer turns on but the screen is black — what causes that?

More often than not it isn't the screen itself. The usual suspects are a loose or failed RAM stick, a dying GPU, a bad display cable, a dead backlight, or a driver/boot problem after an update. We run a quick external-monitor test and diagnostics to pin down the exact cause before quoting.

Is a black-screen repair expensive?

It depends entirely on the cause, which is why we lead with a $40 diagnostic that's credited toward the fix. A reseated RAM stick or a new display cable is inexpensive; a failed GPU costs more. Either way you get a written quote and approve it before any work begins — the price only varies with what the repair actually needs.

The screen is black but I can hear it running — are my files safe?

Almost always, yes. A no-display fault is about getting a picture back, not your storage — your photos, documents, and files are still on the drive. If the drive turns out to be involved, we recover your data first.

Do you replace cracked or dead laptop screens?

We diagnose and fix no-display problems caused by RAM, GPU, cabling, backlight power, and drivers. The two things we don't take on, for any machine, are cracked-screen panel replacement and board-level micro-soldering — for those we recover your data and refer you to a trusted specialist.
