Quick fix
Pop ups taking over your screen?
Most come from adware or sites you let send notifications.
1
Don't click it
Do not click inside a scary pop up, even the close button can be fake, so close the browser tab or the whole browser instead.
2
Block notifications
In your browser settings open Notifications and block any sites you did not mean to allow.
3
Clear out extensions
Open your browser's extensions page and remove any add ons you do not remember installing.
4
Uninstall junk
Open Add or remove programs in Windows and delete recent stuff you do not recognize.
5
Run a scan
Run the free Malwarebytes scan to clear out adware, then remove what it finds.
!
Heads up
Only uninstall programs you are sure are junk, when you are not sure leave it alone. Any pop up telling you to call a number or pay to remove a virus is a scam, so never call or pay.
